​What is Tae Kwon Do?
​
Taekwondo is a martial art sports formed and developed in Korea. It is one of the oldest martial arts in the world (2,000+ years ago).
​The spirit of Taekwondo is the ideology of Geukgi (self-overcoming) and Hongik(humanitarianism), rooted in traditional Korean ideology. In other words, it consists of two values that mean “overcome oneself” and “benefit the world” (Source: https://www.kukkiwon.or.kr)
​At what age can the child(ren) start?
​
​Children ages four (4) and older will be able to enroll, participate and take the greatest advantage from Tae Kwon Do programs.
Does learning Tae Kwon Do increase children's aggressiveness?
​
No. Your child will be taught from the start to never misuse the martial arts skills they learn. The instructors at Master Chang's Yong-In Martial Arts will continually educate your child that martial arts are a form of exercise and self-improvement, not a tool for bullying.
Tae Kwon Do students are taught to be humble, courteous, and respectful along with being careful about when and where they practice their self-defense skills.
How safe is it to learn Tae Kwon Do?

Tae Kwon Do is safe and fun for students of all ages and physical abilities. Classes are taught by expert instructors as students are shown techniques in a step-by-step manner at their own pace. A thorough stretching routine, matted flooring, and protective safety equipment are all part of our commitment to ensuring student safety.
Can families enroll and practice together?

Definitely! In fact, many families are finding Tae Kwon Do to be the perfect family activity and an exciting workout with a new learning experience for the family.​
What is the recommended classes per week? ​
Students should attend two classes per week for their improvement.​
Do I need prior experience?
​
No prior experience is necessary. Our beginner's martial arts program makes it easy to get started. New students receive one-on-one instruction designed to provide an introduction to the basics of Tae Kwon Do. Plus, our belt system allows all students to train at their own pace and improve their physical condition gradually.
